Crepe Masking and Flatback Tapes: 3M offers a complete family of crepe masking and flatback tapes for the industrial and consumer markets. Both our masking and flatback tapes are manufactured with the highest professional standards.

Sharp Paint Edge: Some masking tapes can leave a ragged, poorly developed paint edge that usually requires rework. 3M masking tapes features a thin, smooth backing that results in a sharp paint line.

Slivering: With 3M masking tapes, removal is less work because the tape doesn’t come off the work surface or the roll in strips or pieces.

Conformability: Balanced construction also means 3M masking tapes conform to compound surfaces and around curves without tearing the backing.

2214 (Low Temperature): 3M™ Paper Tape 2214 is a general purpose paper tape for holding, sealing, non-critical masking and a vast number of other jobs where a pressure sensitive tape is needed.

233+ (Medium Tape): 3M™ Performance Masking Tape 233+ has a green colored smooth crepe paper backing and is treated with a temperature and solvent resistant saturent to provide an excellent paint masking tape.

2525 (Flatback): Scotch® Performance Flatback Tape 2525 can be used in many holding, edging binding and splicing applications where a high visibility tape is desired. Scotch® Flatback Tape 2517 can be used for liner board splicing and as a general purpose bundling, holding and packaging tape.

2525/2526 (Flatback): Scotch® Flatback Tapes 2525 and 2526 are used in the textile industry where high adhesion is required. The 3M Flatback family of tapes offer high machine direction tensile and easy cross tear. They can also be used in many holding, tabbing and leasing of natural synthetic fiber applications where a performance flatback tape is desired.

4737 T (Fine Line): The most conformable fine line masking tape. 4737T Tape conforms to many irregular surfaces, resists lifting and stays in place throughout most paint masking processes. 4737T Tape can withstand 300° F bake cycles for up to 40 minutes.

226 (Specialty): Designed to accomplish the most demanding industrial applications. 226 Black polyethylene outdoor masking tape is used to hold polyethylene film to the underbelly of this airplane during a highly caustic paint stripping process. The tape must hold for several weeks, withstand UV exposure, overcome high pressure washing and remove without leaving adhesive. 226 Tape is more than up to this challenge and is considered a standard in the aircraft paint refurbishing industry.

218 (Fine Line): Scotch® Fine Line Tape 218 is a high performance film backed tape with low profile and high adhesion to achieve excellent paint lines and for other masking and holding applications. The specialty processed film backing will allow taping over fresh paint jobs sooner than paper tapes with less chance of imprint damage.

225 (Specialty): Scotch® weather-resistant masking tape has a backing treated with a moisture and ultraviolet light resistant saturant. Tape 225 can be used for holding, particularly when outdoor weathering is encountered for a short period of time.

Specialty Tapes: 3M™ Overspray Protective Sheeting, made of high-density polyethylene film, offers good conformability, easy cutting and handling and clings to the surface providing protection in masking vehicles, boats, appliances and other general industrial applications.
