THE PRODUCT :
Tibon 11R is a red phosphorus base grain refiner in tabletted form for (Al-Si) Hypereutectic alloys.

PURPOSE :
Al-Si alloys containing over 12% Si are used for improving the wear resistance and machinability of the casting. The primary silicon present should be evenly dispersed throughout the casting. Due to long solidification range, growth and flotation of primary silicon may occur. Thus large silicon particles are detrimental to stability, machinability and mechanical properties. Refinement of the structure is therefore desirable.
Hypereutectic alloys are refined with addition of phosphorus. The aluminum phosphide formed provides nucleation sites for primary silicon ensuring a fine dispersion of silicon in the eutectic matrix. The phosphorus can be conveniently added in the form of Tibon 11R tablets.

APPLICATION :
Melt the molten metal under ceraflux flux range and degas the molten metal. Bring the melt temperature to 780 C and plunge Tibon 11R tablet at the bottom of the crucible with the help of perforated plunger. Grain refinement treatment should be done in two or more stages depending upon the volume of the metal.

STANDARD PACKING :
Tibon 11R is available in 50gm tablet in 20 kg corrugated box.

PRECAUTIONS :
Direct addition of phosphorus is very critical due to the fire hazardous properties of phosphorus. So a convenient form for addition should be recommended.
