ROTARY D’GASSING SYSTEM
CERAL GR – DLA

Working Principle :
The Principle of the rotary injector system is that the inert gas such as N, Ar is injected into the GR- DLA assembly i.e. rotating member and is released through openings at the rotor.

When rotating at Speeds 350rpm to 450rpm, the disperser shears the incipient gas bubble released, producing a wide dispersion of very fine bubbles for degassing.

The high surface area to volume ratio of degassing bubbles provides greatly increased contact area and therefore, increased reaction kinetics, resulting in more efficient degassing . The rotating member also disperses the bubble array more uniformly, within the reaction vessel to provide more thorough mixing of metal with the purge gas.

Hydrogen diffuses into the purge gas bubble, which rises to the surface of the melt and is expelled into the atmosphere.

Performance :
The level of H2 removal depends on gas flow rate and initial hydrogen content.
Degassing performance is determined by several interrelated factors including initial Hydrogen content. Metal flow rate (for online degassing systems), vessel size, purge gas, flow rate.

For efficient performance following factors are appropriate :
Shaft speed = 350rpm to 450rpm
Purge gas flow rate = 18 to 20 ft. 3/ hr.
Rotor dia should be selected according to size of crucible

ADVANTAGES OVER GAS PURING THROUGH STATIONARY TUBE OR LANCE :
Purging through stationery tube is less efficient than rotary injector system since it depends on the amount of contact area of bubble and melt and size of bubbles.

Result :
Most system of rotary injection can achieve final hydrogen content well below 0.15ml / 100gm.
