Incorporates a high capacity flame-arresting element that puts out flame in case of flashback.

A non-return valve is fitted next to filter. It seals the passage and avoids reverse gas flow and opens again when the pressure of reverse gas-flow is reduced.

A thermo-sensitive cut-off valve cuts off gas before reaching ignition temperature to eliminate incidence of fire.

There is also a "Shock-Wave" activated cut-off to stop gas flow through arrestor. The valve closes when pressure drops to 1.5 bar. Hence, even during powerful flashback, explosions in hose are eliminated.

The safety-reset button is "fail safe" and cannot be made operative by tying down.

In view of the fact that flashback can occur in any of the cylinders ESAB PROTEX comes in two versions.

An extra security FR - 63 Flashback Arrestors should be mounted on the pipes at all Acetylene gas central installations. It is designed to arrest the flame and cut off further flow of gas. In case the flame is not arrested (quenched), the temperature will rise inside the Arrestor melting the soft soldering. A spring-loaded valve will then close the outlet and further supply of Acetylene will stop.

Mounting: FR - 63 is always mounted directly behind central regular and in the service line at the point of entry to each locality. Both at the inlet and outlet a BSP 1.5" pipe coupling is provided to make fitting and removal is easier.
